How to maintain your Greengauge Artificial Grass Surface
Artificial grass is a low maintenance surface that requires a low maintenance programme to ensure the grass always looks at its best.
To avoid contamination from mud and organic matter the surface of the grass must be brushed with a stiff bristle outdoor broom.Â
Sand is a natural filter and contaminants will be washed through the surface and become trapped between the tufts of grass and sand particles.
What happens if I choose not to infill surface with silica sand?
Sand is optional; however sunlight can filter through the drainage holes in the artificial grass and give the opportunity for weeds to grow through.
What happens if weeds are seen on the artificial grass?
Weeds may grow on top of the surface and this can be due to birds dropping seeds on the grass or seeds and spores may be blown onto the grass from nearby gardens. The weeds must be picked out as soon as they arrive. The roots will be weak as they are growing on top of the grass and not through the grass.Â
What should I do to avoid weeds growing on the artificial grass?
Simply follow the maintenance procedure and brush any debris off the grass with a stiff outdoor broom. Don’t forget to brush off fallen leaves as they will rot on top of the grass and produce moss and algae.
How do I get rid of any moss and algae on the surface of the grass?
A moss and algae cleaner can be used and this will not discolour the grass.Â
